The book presents a critical rethinking of the study of law in Africa from a comparative law perspective and proposes a new approach on how to consider law in Africa. It highlights the inadequacies of current Western theoretical perspectives in comparative law, especially for studying African law, arguing that they are too eurocentric to fully catch the peculiarities and characteristics of the African “lawscape”. The origins of agriculture in Iberia: a computational model

Here we discuss the importance of using the rich and growing database of high-precision, audited radiocarbon dates for high-resolution bottom-up modelling to focus on problems concerning the spread of the Neolithic in the Iberia. We also compare the spread of the Late Mesolithic (so-called Geometric) and the Early Neolithic using our modelling environment. Our results suggest that the source of radiocarbon data used to evaluate alternative hypotheses plays an important role in the results and open up new lines of research for the future.

The purpose of the present study was to examine the relationships between family and classroom environments and the development of particular individual characteristics, including level of empathy, attitude to institutional authority, and perceived social reputation, and the role these characteristics may in turn play in aggressive behavior. These factors and associations were analyzed by gender and in two different Latin contexts, Spain and Mexico, from a cross-cultural perspective. This article discusses the ways in which artists have incorporated or failed to incorporate the aging process of their bodies into their art. Using Russian ballet dancer Mikhail Baryshnikov and the French painter Claude Monet as cases in point, we explore situations in which physical changes brought about by aging compromises artists' ability to engage with their artistic medium. Inflammation and oxidative stress are considered to be the major mediators of the allostatic load, and has been shown to correlate with telomere erosion in the leucocytes of MDD patients, leading to the model of accelerated aging. The Big Five Inventory (BFI) is a self-report measure designed to assess the high-order personality traits of Extraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, Neuroticism, and Openness. As part of the International Sexuality Description Project, the BFI was translated from English into 28 languages and administered to 17,837 individuals from 56 nations. The resulting cross-cultural data set was used to address three main questions: Does the factor structure of the English BFI fully replicate across cultures? Este artículo analiza la epigrafía funeraria nazarí y establece la estructura de los epitafios andalusíes conservados datables entre los siglos XIII y XV. Se estudia también una pieza arqueológica cuyo exacto origen se desconoce, aunque se puede deducir que apareció en la región de Granada. La piedra se usó en el siglo XV para grabar el epitafio de un hombre musulmán cuyo texto se conserva completo en siete líneas de escritura árabe cursiva en relieve. Formó parte de la colección del Duque de Santa Lucía y hoy integra el lapidario árabe del Museo Arqueológico Nacional (Nº. Inv. 1962/34/15).
